OCU School of Business & Government® Registered as First in the Nation

Ohio Christian University received the news last month that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded Ohio Christian University’s School of Business & Government® (SBG) the first trademark for a school of business and government in the nation.

In 2012, Ohio Christian University launched the first School of Business and Government® in the nation, and nearly four years later, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office granted a registered trademark in recognition of the uniqueness of the School of Business & Government®.  Since then, SBG has experienced a three-fold increase in the number of students and widened its impact across America by doubling the programs and majors offered along with expanded student opportunities to visit and interact with leaders in Washington, D.C. and Wall Street.

The School of Business and Government’s® vision was to create a school where students would more fully appreciate how business and government work in concert with each other to ensure America’s greatness, as well as reach out to America’s leaders in government and business with the message that America’s success is fully dependent upon “faith and liberty.”

The School was created through the combined leadership efforts of Dr. Dave Garrison; Dr. Hank Kelly, OCU Provost; and Dr. Mark Smith, OCU President. Four years since the vision was cast, students, parents, and public, have embraced the mission of the School of Business & Government®. So to further the reach of the School, a Center for Faith & Liberty® was created to foster the principle that America cannot be free without religious freedom.

The School of Business & Government® also launched a national talk show in 2013, The Faith & Liberty Talk Show®, hosted by Dr. Garrison. Numerous U.S. presidential candidates, U.S. senators and congressmen, faith leaders, business leaders, movie and television stars, major news network personalities, and New York Times best-selling authors have been interviewed on the show and have recognized and universally affirmed OCU’s vision and decision to create a School of Business & Government®.
