Staff Profile: Sherry Taylor Directs Bridge Tutoring Center

Sherry L. Taylor recently joined OCU as Director of Tutoring Services in the Academics Department.  Sherry is a certified trainer with the National Tutoring Association and an academic coach. Committed to Christian education, she enjoys finding creative ways to engage students in learning.

Sherry comes to OCU after serving over 10 years at New Hope Christian Academy where she initially taught middle school math and science.  As New Hope Christian Academy adopted a STEM focus, Sherry designed and implemented its K-12 Robotics program that provides a framework for integration of math and science skills with computer programming.  Based on Tufts University research, this program recently expanded to include Pre-K students.

Sherry is a self-proclaimed “techy” committed to lifelong learning.  She learned computer programming, web design, and game design on her own and is currently working on her master of arts degree.

“As Director of Tutoring Services I will be increasing awareness of all that Bridge Tutoring Center offers,” Sherry explains. “We plan to integrate new services to include ‘live tutoring sessions’ that will further assist OCU students in meeting their academic goals.”

Sherry received her bachelor degree from The Ohio State University and her instructor certification through Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Academy.  She is a retired U.S. Army major and graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College. Sherry lives in Circleville, Ohio with husband John, children Sarah and Jeremiah, and nephew Phillip Goodson. Sherry is a member of Heritage Nazarene Church and active with its vacation bible school program.
